2018 Rule Book

by Admin
Comments are off for this post.

The 2018 rule book has been uploaded to the website!  Please take a minute to look through it.  All 2018 changes are in red!  Here are some new rules I want you to be aware of but they are NOT all of the new rules!

  • To be qualify for the SNFR, contestants must compete at 5 NSPRA sanctioned rodeos. To be eligible to win a world title in the timed events, contestants must compete at 10 NSPRA rodeos and to win a world title in the rough stock events, contestants must compete in 7 NSPRA rodeos.
  • If the ground is deemed unacceptable by the event director and/or the judges at any rodeo, contestants will have the option of competing or drawing out. If they choose to draw out, they will still be liable for the $20 office charge but the rodeo will count towards the necessary rodeos to qualify for the finals.
  • At multiple rodeos in one location, if there are no qualified times, or scores, in an event, the ground money will roll over to the next day’s rodeo in that event. If at the end of the last rodeo in that location there is still ground money unearned, those funds will go into that event’s added money at the finals.
  • To haze in the steer wrestling, you must be at least 40 years old and hold either a NSPRA active membership or a working card.
  • Age groups is the TD and RR have been restructured to be the same as the team roping. Age Groups for all events are as follows:
    • Bareback, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding and Steer Wrestling: 40-49 and 50+. The money is together in one pot; but the points are separated by age category.
    • Ladies Barrel Race: 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. Competition is in a 3D format. Points are separated by individual age category. Contestants may run two horses, first horse in the random draw shall be their point horse.
    • Breakaway (Mens and Ladies): Men’s age requirement is 65+; Ladies is 40+.
    • Tie Down Roping: 40-59, 60-67, 68+. 68+ age category is handicapped.
    • Ribbon Roping: 40-59 and 60+
    • Team Roping: 40-59 and 60+. Same as last year, except the 40-59 age category may rope twice with the same partner. First run in the random draw will be the points run.

There were also a couple of Policies and Procedures added for 2018!

  • Any one entered in a rodeo that is cancelled, may count that rodeo as one of their 5 qualifying rodeos, subject to paying the $20 NSPRA Office Charge.
  • Any contestant entered in an event where they are the only contestant entered in that event when the books closed and there cannot compete may count that rodeo as one of their qualifying rodeos, subject to paying the $20 office charge. The policy only applies to the specific event and will not let the contestant draw out of any other events with more than one contestant, unless they use one of their releases.
